What is Orbit™?
Orbit™ is a managed headless content platform built by DotPerformance on AWS. Your team edits content in the browser, your developers connect through an API, and DotPerformance runs the hosting, security, monitoring, backups and disaster recovery underneath. Every Orbit™ is a private installation, not a shared service.
How much does Orbit™ cost?
Orbit™ is included with every DotPerformance website and Digital Team. On its own it is licensed from £299 a month, with the connection to your own front end quoted. Most implementations take five to fifteen working days.
How is Orbit™ different from WordPress?
WordPress relies on plugins for most of what it does, and every plugin is something that can break or be exploited. Orbit™ is headless, has no plugins, and is patched and monitored by DotPerformance. You run the content; DotPerformance runs the platform.
Can our team edit an Orbit™ site ourselves?
Yes. The editor is designed for marketing and editorial teams, with writing, images, publishing and the AI tools all in the browser. Your team can also open the live site in Chrome and edit content where it sits, with changes going through the same approvals before they are published.
What do the AI tools in Orbit™ do?
AWS Bedrock is built into the editor, working from your own content. It can draft, rewrite, shorten, suggest headlines and write meta descriptions inside the workflow, and lets visitors ask your website questions and get answers from your own pages. Nothing is published until a person approves it.
Can Orbit™ power more than a website?
Yes. Because it is headless, the same content feeds a website, iOS and Android apps, TV apps and digital signage through one API. The FC Isle of Man website and app run from one Orbit™, and content is served in several languages from one model.
How is Orbit™ protected?
It runs on AWS with security patching, monitoring and uptime checks around the clock, 365 days a year. Backups are automatic and disaster recovery is included. Code quality is checked with SonarCloud, every release is versioned and logged, and every change is recorded in an audit trail.
What happens if we want to leave Orbit™?
The site can be moved to another AWS account without redevelopment, typically within a working day, with the Orbit™ licence carrying over at the same rate. All front-end code and content can be exported in standard formats, and content can be migrated if you move away from Orbit™ altogether.
