With 139 riders taking in the stunning Manx countryside and the islands best local produce, our challenge was to create a video as exciting and vibrant as the day itself.
The production was logistically demanding, with a crew of three using run and gun tactics across the island in a short space of time. We managed to capture aerial footage with the DJI Mavic 4 Pro Cine, and used the Ronin 4D attached to a Hydra Alien arm rig, safely operated from inside a Land Rover. The Blackmagic Ursa 12K provided beautifully detailed ground shots.
In post production, Andy played with expectations by opening the film with a dramatic, high intensity sequence that nods to the islands most famous cyclist, before shifting gears to reveal the true heart of the event: a warm community celebration accompanied by a playful Tour de France inspired sound design.
Voices from across the island come together throughout the film, including dairy farmer Kayleigh Coole, Hospice representative Vanessa Smith and cycling expert Richard Fletcher. Supported by data insights from Tour de Farms scientist Albert Boardman, the Tour de France inspired film brings the events unique atmosphere vividly to life.
The entertaining video received more than 135,000 views, helping to promote both the islands produce and the Isle of Man Hospice.
