Cafe Lingo - Oksana's Story
Eight years ago, Oksana arrived on the Isle of Man feeling uncertain and isolated. With little English and no familiar faces around her, life on the island felt distant and out of reach. But everything changed when she walked through the doors of Café Lingo.
What she found there was more than language lessons. She found friendship, encouragement and a genuine sense of belonging — a community of people from all walks of life, brought together by a shared desire to connect and communicate. Slowly but surely, Oksana's confidence grew, her English improved, and the island she had once felt so distant from began to feel like home.
Today, Oksana is an active and valued member of the Isle of Man community — and her journey is a powerful reminder of what can happen when people are given the right space and support to thrive.
Café Lingo is a free, friendly and pressure-free environment open to everyone, regardless of background or ability level. Whether you're just starting out or looking to build on existing skills, you are welcome here.
