Simon

Head of Web Development

In 1999 Simon graduated with a BA in Graphic Design and headed down south to the bright lights of London to seek his fortune.

He was offered a role as a Graphic Designer for an interactive tv games company and spent the next 4 years designing games for interactive tv, including an enhanced tv version of the popular quiz show Countdown.

He took some time out in 2003 to explore the roads of Europe on his 750cc Yamaha Virago, before returning to London to look for his next job.

The phone rang, a recruitment agent described an eGaming job that fitted his skills set and then before putting the phone down, he added that it was in Gibraltar. "Gibraltar? Where's my map?".

Seven years later, Simon had a collection of no less than 5 business cards in his desk draw, each with different job titles including, Design Manager, IT Project Manager and Product Development Manager. By now Simon had helped design, redesign, launch and develop the suite of online products offered by a leading European online betting brand.

After getting married and having a daughter, the shores of his wife's homeland drew him to the Isle of Man, where he joined DotPerformance in 2010.

With his mixed skillset he contributes to a range of projects, covering the full lifecycle of a website; from initial inception, right though to executing marketing campaigns once a website is launched.

He became a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner in 2007 and renewed his vows to become re-accredited in Nov 2011.

He is an Adwords & Google Analytics Qualified Individual and W3C certified HTML Developer.

In his spare time he can be found in his wellies in the garden trying to become self-sufficient. Combining his love of technology with gardening, he uses the Arduino platform to apply the 'internet of things' to the way he grows food, with possibly the most hi-tech greenhouse on the Isle of Man!
